Gershwin - Delicious 1931 - Stereo - Second Rhapsody
Переглядів 4 тис.4 роки тому
George Gershwin wrote much of his “Second Rhapsody” for the 1931 film "Delicious". Unfortunately, sound recording was in its infancy, and much of the score was mixed with loud sound effects that obscured it. Here is how the film might have sounded had the score been better recorded. Janet Gaynor stars with Raul Roulien. John Mauceri conducts Wayne Marshall and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The ...
My Man - "Funny Girl" soundtrack and "My Name Is Barbra" played simultaneously

Fun fact: Barbra Streisand famously sang the first chorus of "My Man" live on set in the 1968 film "Funny Girl". But for the rest of the song, she lip-synched - to the recording of the song from her 1965 album "My Name is Barbra"! Here are both recordings played simultaneously. Who knew? I've loved Charles Gerhardt's 1972 recording of Korngold's gorgeous score since I first heard it in the late '70s. Here it is synched to the film for the first time ever! Musical director: Leo F. Forbstein Orchestrations: Hugo Friedhofer, Ray Heindorf, and Milan Roder From "The Sea Hawk: The Classic Film Scores Of Erich Wolfgang Korngold" The National Philharmonic Orchestra

What voices!!
Dove bar soap, it's geared towards woman so, there you go , abuse confident,
0:45 why the need to change the text?
It still is sunlime❤
Kurt Weill- there's no one in his league (except Stephen Sondheim). But Kurt Weill - he brings us the skills of the Weimar Republic.
And Julie Andrews singing the intro.💗
Wonderful job editing the whole song together with the film!
This is amazing -- the original sequence and your stereo version editing too! I'd argue that the dancers are in 5/8 time, though, not 5/4.
1:23

0:27-1:01
When I did this show in high school, we boys would sing "I'm gonna wash those crabs right outa my hair"!
Soo animation is basically cartoon sketches of a play hmm
Thank you for the chance to hear Leslie Caron.
prince got a nice set of 🍑
30:17 Danny Kaye as Captain Hook, he does a superb job and is so evil. I’m surprised that he doesn’t get a big pirate captain hat though showing he’s the Captain. Years later he would be Captain Hook again in Disneyland’s 25th anniversary in 1980.❤🪝🏴☠️
Julie andws and edia Adam's has amazing incredible very talented voices together medley together Julie andews is my favorite actress she is amazing incredible very talented voice I love her movies she's in everything she has amazing incredible very talented beautiful voice ❤️
What a voice and overall talent.
BarBara Luna became the prettiest actress to grace the screen when she grew up! No denying that! And she got her start right here on Broadway!
Whites did it better lol
bum ass
Judy is so beautiful here! Why the heck did they dress her so poorly in most of her later movies!?! Judy was the greatest entertainer ever per Elvis Presley. Hard to disagree.
Beautiful Judy Garland and Handsome Gene Kelly! Perfect Movie Magic Chemistry! Brilliant Song and Dance Number!
Louis Jordan used to be a client of my dad's.
Just when I was only familiar with the 1997 version of these songs. Wow.
lol. I bet Mickey Rooney LOVED saying that line. Hahahaha
2:09.
0:23.
I saw this movie as a young girl. I love this song. When my nephew played the trumpet his music teacher put Speak Low in the recidal.
0:39 That laugh will never stop being one of the most iconic ones in cinematic history 😂😂😂
I must ask; is there any way to seen the scenes that were excluded from the restoration because they were too damaged?
It's only a few seconds, I think. They were at the beginning of a reel, so I think they were actually lost completely.
Rogers & Hammerstein! Wow….. truly they created something special
When I saw this movie, I was a little girl and I became mesmerized at this song! Now that I’m all grown up, I can listen to it again. It’s beautiful, classic and haunting. Thank you for posting it.
I must say at about around four minutes. The ribbon in that one persons view is so hysterical. She’s dancing so eloquently and we have no idea what she looks like.
This is so great I’ve just washed a man right out off my hair and all.Dont want to know a cheat Thankyou for sharing
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why does he cut the candles?
Presumably he thinks he can fight better in the dark!
“I’m in love” Then:- Awww how sweet Now:- uhhhhh I know we’re kissing, dancing, holding hands but we’re not that far yet byeeee
Whoa... um... it was a really different time? ? ?
Different how?
Gorgeous Women and a purely Gorgeous Story. My belief in impossible things happening everyday is what keeps me going and believing anything can happen and I can make it happen if I want it bad enough. Thanks ladies for a great memory.
I like that each "face" has its own tune, and that we hear each tune with each "face" at the grand finale.
For how old this has to be it’s in outstanding quality
This is wondrous! Thanks for sharing.
I remembered that Walt Disney admired this statue and that was how he got his idea to make the animated version of Peter Pan. I also remembered that movie is on Disney plus and it's also in the program Once Upon a Studio.
I recently got the role of Cinderella in my middle school play and just found out that Julie was Cinderella once, I’m so happy 😆😆😆🥰🥰🥰
Maybe with the help of AI it can be even better
This gives me goose bumps! Mary Martin is a legend, and the validity of applying "legend," that perhaps too often used descriptor, to Mary Martin is so obvious here. Goosebumps from an old performance on film! Well, let me tell you what she was like in person. I saw her in "The Sound of Music," and the talent, the love, the electricity which crackled across the footlights into the audience when she was on stage , the sheer hold she had on the audience were unmatched. I never felt that indescribable feeling before or since. When they talk about magic in the theater, I experienced it with Mary Martin.
I’m just seeing this for the first time. I grew up with Mary Martin so by 1976 I was pretty busy and not watching TV. It’s really something. Mia is awesome and Danny Kaye is my favourite actor. I have to watch it a few times to really absorb the songs since they are new to me. Of course I miss the songs from the 1955-60 versions but this is pretty special.
The audio isn’t the exact same, they actually had the actors re-record the audio so it was clean
You're completely wrong. Did you read what I wrote? They famously used the on-set audio because the attempt to re-record it wasn't as good.
I gotta say Whitney knocked this out of the park. These two women have beautiful voices BUT Brandi and Whitney are IT for me! Julie's British accent sort of screws this song up a bit for me.
Her dance partner was in more than one film with her and he dances beautifully with her but she hated her . He was her dance tutor. She called him " the man with the bullwhip". He was a bully . I wish they loved her as she deserved. She would be 102 now, had she lived . Such a tragedy how they destroyed that beautiful and exceptional young lady. Rest in serene peace, Miss Garland . XxxxX
