Gershwin - Delicious 1931 - Stereo - Second Rhapsody
Переглядів 4 тис.4 роки тому
George Gershwin wrote much of his “Second Rhapsody” for the 1931 film "Delicious". Unfortunately, sound recording was in its infancy, and much of the score was mixed with loud sound effects that obscured it. Here is how the film might have sounded had the score been better recorded. Janet Gaynor stars with Raul Roulien. John Mauceri conducts Wayne Marshall and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The ...
My Man - "Funny Girl" soundtrack and "My Name Is Barbra" played simultaneously

Fun fact: Barbra Streisand famously sang the first chorus of "My Man" live on set in the 1968 film "Funny Girl". But for the rest of the song, she lip-synched - to the recording of the song from her 1965 album "My Name is Barbra"! Here are both recordings played simultaneously. Who knew? This is amazing -- the original sequence and your stereo version editing too! I'd argue that the dancers are in 5/8 time, though, not 5/4.

30:17 Danny Kaye as Captain Hook, he does a superb job and is so evil. I’m surprised that he doesn’t get a big pirate captain hat though showing he’s the Captain. Years later he would be Captain Hook again in Disneyland’s 25th anniversary in 1980.❤🪝🏴‍☠️

I remembered that Walt Disney admired this statue and that was how he got his idea to make the animated version of Peter Pan. I also remembered that movie is on Disney plus and it's also in the program Once Upon a Studio.

This gives me goose bumps! Mary Martin is a legend, and the validity of applying "legend," that perhaps too often used descriptor, to Mary Martin is so obvious here. Goosebumps from an old performance on film! Well, let me tell you what she was like in person. I saw her in "The Sound of Music," and the talent, the love, the electricity which crackled across the footlights into the audience when she was on stage , the sheer hold she had on the audience were unmatched. I never felt that indescribable feeling before or since. When they talk about magic in the theater, I experienced it with Mary Martin.

I’m just seeing this for the first time. I grew up with Mary Martin so by 1976 I was pretty busy and not watching TV. It’s really something. Mia is awesome and Danny Kaye is my favourite actor. I have to watch it a few times to really absorb the songs since they are new to me. Of course I miss the songs from the 1955-60 versions but this is pretty special.

Her dance partner was in more than one film with her and he dances beautifully with her but she hated her . He was her dance tutor. She called him " the man with the bullwhip". He was a bully . I wish they loved her as she deserved. She would be 102 now, had she lived . Such a tragedy how they destroyed that beautiful and exceptional young lady. Rest in serene peace, Miss Garland . XxxxX
